i'm totally pre-London about the whole thing....

how can life being underwhelming be so strangely overwhelming at the same time? i'm sot sure...

the new job is okay. actually, it's starting to grow on me. it's pretty sweet in a way, i mean i work a ten hour day, but i'd say i only do maybe 3 or 4 hours of actual work. plus, i get 1 hour and 45 mins paid break! go team! the uniform sucks though, but it will be better when i get my spiffy new Polartec soft-shell technical fleece jacket! yeah! It's even black!

oh! the romantic weekend in Canmore was pretty awesome! We ended up with this really really nice suite that was like a cabin! it had a fire place, jacuzzi, and a bed so big it was like an adventure! And the play, Oedipus Loves You was awesome! awesomely awesome, even. I recommend everyone checks out Gordon Is A Mime, which is the like, the band that was in the play, except it is also a real band, i think? just check it out already!

the art gallery jury thing was actually really fun, even though it chewed up most of my free time this week. I got to see a bunch of great work, and actually discuss it, like, intellectually. Coo.

as for the paintings.... stop judging me! i see you looking with that look! one day, i'll show you all! (some paintings)

everything i've ever wanted...

is in this photograph. it's Cezanne's house. he lived there. he painted there. it's the most perfect place in all my dreams. one day, i want to live in a place like this, crumbly stone walls and all.

more like, Horrible Musical Vivesection....

oh me oh my. Have any of you heard the new K-OS? well, it's crap after the 700th listen, in fact, I think those record company guys stole him, and made this lump of shite they call a cd with a computer program built to market soft drinks.

any way

my new job is buying me pants. this is strangely personal, yet a little exciting. pants! BUY PANTS! they commanded of me, and so I shall.

I am off to Banff this weekend for a romantic, theatre and candy filled weekend! with free breakfast! this is exciting.

I have concluded that if I apply to all those credit card app's that keep coming in throught he mail box, that I can probably abscond with enough loot to move to Peru, Portugal, Pangnurtung, or Thailand and never ever come back. This thought, sadly, at times is the only thing keeping me sane.

I have an art show! SHEEEET!!!! I must paint, print, and photograph like i'm gonna die by easter!

some things are just so much less romantic in real life....

and i don't mean candles and glasses of wine romantic. I'm talking about southern plantation, Merchant/Ivory, Deepest, Darkest Africa kinda romance. like how it's kinda hard to make waiting in line at the drug store to purchase tampons and discount shampoo epic, even if you imagine yourself in black and white. none-the-less, the point of this little excursion is thus: one's man having Scarlet Fever is Gone With the Wind, Little House on the Prairie, classic romance novel exciting! One's man having Beaver Fever (which is basically dissentery) is just keeping things a little too real.

upon introspection...

i think i like beginnings a little too much... that's where all the excitement is, all the potential. before we have to start choosing between this, or that, starting down one path at the exclusion of another. middles are okay, 'cause you're in the thick of it all, but endings.... endings always get me, because that's where one can see just where one has ended up; you can take a look back and see how you got to where you are, and how you could have chosen differently here or there... there always seems to be a brighter path to have taken. granted, there often times are quite a few darker, rockier paths as well... but beginnings... i tell ya... i think i live off them. and thus we end up here, a new year just starting to unfurl. a new job. a few new goals ( which are really old goals that got forgotten about, pushed to the back of the shelf where they've collected dust and tarnish, but i'm busy polishing them up like new again! oh yes i am!) and a new determination. i am going to do grand things! not just someday, but everyday! why can't i be doing grand things now? or at least be working on them. because, really, i've plum run out of excuses. When it comes to this game called life, i have somehow managed to collect the world's biggest, baddest, most fantastic dream-team of players who got my back! and i got theirs, and it's the most fantastic feeling in the world! am i on uppers again? maybe... but this is for damn sure! we are gonna kick some ass!

say what?

-57 with windchill? that's not a temperature! OMG! the wind was blowing so hard last night it woke me up... and i live in the basement! all i could think of was -20 weather with wind gusts up to 80 or 90 km! that's crazy! i feel sad for the birds and homeless people.

hmmmmm.... I want chocolate.... hot chocolate! with marshmallows! I uh... gotta go!

when i grow up, i wanna be Angelica Houston....

I got the job! yay me! they called me back the same day! It's at a self storage place, but I'll only ever have to work btw the hours of 8am and 6pm, which is grand to have evenings free (to paint, of course!) The other job interview, as a booking agent for several resort lodges in the Rockies i don't think I did so well on... becasue the snooty ladies looked at my stretched ears and non-designer shoes, and really cool pants that are just a few sizes too big because i haven't had time to take them in yet, and they judged me! i could see it in their eyes, the judgement! well nuts to them, anyway. unless they actually want to hire me, in which case, yay. So thanks to those out there who fielded my reference checks with apparent grace and ease, once again I owe you all a round of mojitos.

In other news: I get to be on a for real art gallery jury! This means i get to help pick who gets a show and who does not. I'm excited!

in other other news: global warming has ruined the ice wine for Ontario! EEEEEP!

Chex party mix?

Had one of those days where it seems like nothing will ever work, except that in the end it all did. so yay. I bought a new fancy all in one printer/scanner/copier thingie with my christmas money. it looks super high-tech! like I stole it from a space ship, or NASA, or Japan! and it also makes lots of high-tech sounding whirls and sound-adjusted schwoops, and it has lots of blinky lights, so I know i got my moneys worth. I have named it Harold so that Rubie has a friend. this makes me happy. I also discovered a whole new process for my t-shirts, so that I can make one-of-a-kind drawings and such, that end up with a kinda chalk-on-chalk-board effect. anyway... it's neat. i am going to make a robot with a broken heart shirt. this is exciting. I also made some "what's with the pope?" transfers with Harold, so anyone who wants a "what's with the pope?" t-shirt, send me size and colour pref's, and you'll get one. Fo' Rizzle! it's that easy!

I also ate half a kilo of cherries, and drank too much Dr. Pepper.

I am glad that Australia has salt and vinegar chips. This is good news.

I have 2 job interviews tomorrow, I hope I get one of them!

some days it really does pay to stay in bed...

things i accomplished today without leaving the house:

1- job interview (i'll probably get the job too, cause let's face it, i'm pretty darn fantastic!)
1-solo art show! (all me, just me, me me ME!) Feb 16th to March 11th for which I shall need 16 paintings (of which I almost but not quite have painted half on one... err.... shit.)
7- chocolate chip pancakes
$3.00 in lotto winnings
1- fabulous fancy t-shirt design (hooray! is what is says...)
1- free slurpee (okay, I had to leave the house for this....)

i should stay home more often, is what i think i learned today. and also, nobody can stay mad at a box of kittens.

PS ~ Bill Laing says "hello"

OMG!!!

I just sold my first item on ebay! i so essited! next stop: little sister! ~I mean, next stop: t-shirt store!

Happy New Year!

2007 already.... feels like the year 2000 was like yesterday. (you know you're getting old when....)
had a lovely time with friends and family at the (seemingly) annual Scott Frank New Years Extravaganza (now with pizza!) It was really great to see long lost family and friends, including even Hayden and his hair. but I must say, Chad Frank was seeming a little low energy that night... maybe he had a tummy ache?

in other news: bronchitus slowly turning into pneumonia! I was caughing up lung foam last night. I was half asleep, and it looked like frog spawn, and then i freaked out cause i thought i had tadpoles in my lungs. it was scary.

in other other news: scored a super sweet Snakes on a Plane t-shirt at work! go Team!
